Anxiety Week

According to usually reliable sources, this is the week the State Department will start inviting people to join the September class.  Everyone on the register awaits hearing something with bated breath.  Nevertheless, they can invite you as late as a few days before class begins (particularly if you’re local and don’t have to be moved to Northern Virginia), but that’s the exception.

I have three sisters (all younger than me) and one of them has decided to join the “major life change” club.  She headed off this past weekend to Telluride to train for a new job out there.  The rest of the family will follow in a few weeks, after she returns to finish the packing and planning.  There are people who spend their whole lives within a few miles of where they were born, but I guess that’s not us.  Not that we’ve been like the military (or State Department) families that move every few years, but we do seem to be willing to look at new places and new things to do.

Now, back to watching my email…

    Rick,
Thanks. I’ve been reading your blog. Congrats on getting on the register. I’m sure you’ll get a call to the Sept. class. I might be there, too. I was told by WDC that it’s better not to postpone until next Jan. It sucks in terms of settling in and working with the kids at school, etc. But I’m not in a position to be picky.
