Blowin in the Wind

Mary Travers of Peter Paul and Mary died of complications from the leukemia she has been fighting for several years. For those of us of a certain age, the music of PP&M was part of the soundtrack of our life.

I first heard PP&M in the 1960’s, when their music was all over the radio.  I first saw them at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Maryland, during their reunion tour.  They never separated again.  I saw them last a few years ago at Wolf Trap, with my mother.  As we sat and listened, and sang along to Woody’s “This Land is Your Land”, you could tell Mary was ill.  Her body was weak, but her voice and spirit was strong.

I will miss her music, and that spirit.
