Put Me In Coach!

Spring has come, and with it softball season.  Okay, you can play anytime in Cotonou, so long as it’s not too hot.  And it’s always too hot.  Still, I was told we used to play here, so with fellow conspirators the RSO and CLO, we went out looking for a place to play.  Well, there were none, or rather, they were all booked up (not softball fields, just any field large enough and flat enough to play.  So, we were left with what we had, the site for the new Embassy, still a few years off and cleared if not particularly flat.

There was one area which had been cleared by the Embassy soccer team, and we made that the infield, and dealt with the bumps and weeds in the outfield.

The players range from Foreign Service folks and families to Peace Corps volunteers, missionaries and members of NGOs.  We’re planning to teach some of the guards the game soon.

This photos are from last Saturday’s session.  No pictures of me, I’m behind the camera.

  1. It’s always good to have the RSO and CLO as your fellow conspirators for any endeavor! LOL!

You guys really are good at creating fun!

The volcano. We’re expecting it to erupt any day now!

Seriously, it’s a big exhibition center used for conferences and such. The Lions had a conference there last week.

  3. It’s Friday, and it’s the Weekly State Department Blog Roundup’s Three Month Blogiversary – and you’re on it!
